About Excel Medical Imaging

Excel Medical Imaging is an independent, physician-owned diagnostic and interventional imaging practice serving the Tampa Bay community.

As one of the area’s remaining independent imaging centers, we focus on high-quality imaging, individualized patient care, and sound clinical decision-making without the layers of bureaucracy common to large hospital systems.

Excel is also a Graduate Medical Education (GME) training site, and we place a strong emphasis on education, professional development, and lifelong learning. Our technologists work closely with radiologists, residents, and other clinical professionals in a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced MRI / CT Technologist to provide weekend coverage at our New Port Richey imaging center.

This position is ideal for a technologist who is comfortable working with a high degree of independence, enjoys variety, and can transition efficiently between MRI and CT based on patient volume.

Our weekend environment offers the opportunity to practice imaging in a more personal outpatient setting while still working with a broad range of diagnostic studies and maintaining direct access to radiologists.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality MRI and CT examinations according to established protocols
• Review orders, clinical indications, patient history, and prior imaging as appropriate
• Screen patients for MRI safety, implants, contraindications, and contrast considerations
• Perform appropriate CT contrast screening and IV-related workflow
• Position patients and optimize examinations for diagnostic image quality
• Apply radiation safety and ALARA principles during CT examinations
• Recognize potential contrast reactions or changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate escalation
• Maintain accurate documentation within the RIS, PACS, and EMR
• Communicate effectively with patients, radiologists, referring providers, and team members
• Maintain efficient workflow while preserving patient safety and individualized care
• Participate in ongoing education, protocol improvement, and quality initiatives

Qualifications

Required

• ARRT certification in Radiography and/or applicable advanced imaging certification
• Current Florida radiologic technologist license as required for CT practice
• Current BLS certification
• ACLS certification required; candidates who are not currently ACLS-certified must be willing to obtain certification after hire within the required onboarding timeframe
• Demonstrated competency in MRI and CT
• Strong MRI safety knowledge
• Ability to work independently and exercise appropriate clinical judgment
• Strong patient communication and customer-service skills
• Comfortable working with RIS, PACS, and EMR systems

Preferred

• ARRT MR and CT credentials
• Prior outpatient imaging experience
• Experience performing contrast-enhanced MRI and CT examinations
• IV placement experience
• Experience working independently or as the primary technologist during a shift

Schedule & Compensation

This position is primarily designed for weekend coverage, with the possibility of additional shifts based on mutual availability and practice needs.

Competitive weekend rates offered, commensurate with experience, certifications, and demonstrated proficiency in both MRI and CT.
